This is an NEW Rheem/Ruud/Weather King/Corsaire Furnace Upgraded Remote Flame Sensor Kit. The part number is 62-24044-71. This kit contains the flame sensor and all the brackets/components needed to convert from an the old style of furnace that used the igitor as a sensor to the independant flame sensor. Function:
A flame sensor senses the furnace flame ensuring that ignition has occurred. It then monitors the flame until the furnace shut down. Should combustion be disrupted for any reason the sensor loses its signal and shuts the gas valve off.

    Flame sensor kit

    I needed a new control board for my 30+yr old furnace. I found a video online that looked like my exact model. They were using one of the 62-24084-82 boards and said you had to add a separate flame sensor with that board. I bought this kit and one of those boards and they work great, and I now have an added safety sensor. The kit has a couple of brackets, additional hardware, and a couple of ways to wire it up depending on your type of furnace. It bolted right in and wired right up to mine without mod's or adjustments. If you're installing a new board, you might want to ask if you need a separate flame sensor for your particular board and check to see if you already have one installed.
